Passage of Clooties, 1990

This is another of my "light seen through  obstruction" paintings, whether the difficulty is the amount of light, or some  barrier.  I was specifically thinking of nights spent in the woods in southern Missouri, when I would see distant city lights through the forest or over the hill.  Done completely with a palette knife, applying and scraping off paint.

Oil on linen.  36" x 36".
Private collection, Seattle, WA
